The Space

The Alkazi Galleries is an exhibition space conceived of by long-time gallery owners keeping in mind the challenges and needs individuals and institutions face when putting up an exhibition in a space that is not their own.

The Alkazi Galleries comprise three (3) state-of-the-art, large exhibition spaces with high ceilings (9-11 ft), a reception area and a client office (see ground plan below). The galleries occupy the entire 11th floor of 148 W 24th Street. Connected to one another by a central hallway that itself can be used as a gallery space, each gallery has hardwood floors and moveable walls that permit works to be lit by either natural light through large windows or by a track lighting system. Several of the galleries also include a significant amount of storage space designed for artworks in particular. TAG is therefore a space that can accommodate both short duration popup shows as well as clients who may be interested in longer term engagements.

In addition to the physical space, TAG provides clients a number of services when they occupy the space, including an on-site liaison, a receptionist, suggestions of vendors, including those for installation/deinstallation, catering, shippers and movers, daily cleaning of the space and sharing of the client’s events on TAG’s mailing list.
